The film
A cybersecurity expert becomes a whistleblower after uncovering secrets about aliens, putting him on the run from a corporation. Meanwhile, a meteorologist experiencing strange phenomena joins forces with him to prove there's life beyond our understanding.
The real review
People are lukewarm at best on this Spielberg outing, finding its story about a cybersecurity whistleblower and a meteorologist chasing aliens surprisingly thin and unoriginal. The cast, especially Emily Blunt, is the main saving grace, with her performance as Margaret Fairchild getting strong praise. Beyond that, it's a mixed bag where the solid acting can't quite compensate for a plot that feels too familiar and a pace that drags.
