Crystal Lake series promises brutal kills and deep dive into Jason's origins

The upcoming "Friday the 13th" origin series "Crystal Lake" is aiming to be even more brutal than the films, per The Hollywood Reporter. Creator Brad Caleb Kane told a New York Comic Con panel that the show will deliver "really creative kills" and "drop a lot of bodies."
Kane said the series will explore the psychology of Pamela Voorhees, played by Linda Cardellini. The story will cover the time between Jason's drowning and the events of the first film. Cardellini said she was drawn to exploring the journey of the original killer, a role she'd never been asked to play before.
Fans shouldn't expect the iconic hockey mask, as the series timeline predates it. However, Kane promised "shot-by-shot recreations" of scenes from the movies that will "re-contextualize" familiar moments.
The production returned to the forests of Blairstown, New Jersey, to film. Kane said the town looks unchanged after 45 years and was "very welcoming."
According to the report, the series will also delve into Jason's background, including his time in the woods after crawling from the lake. Kane described it as a mix of established lore and new invention, aiming to show the relationship between Pamela and Jason before tragedy struck.
