Crystal Lake
Single mother Pam Voorhees has been unable to shake her grief after her young, sickly son Jason tragically drowned in the town lake almost a year before. When two strangers arrive at Pam's door digging into her past, a disturbing chain of events is set into motion, leaving the townspeople of Crystal Lake wondering: just who is Pam Voorhees?

Updated nightlyPeople are skeptical about this *Friday the 13th* origin story focused on a grieving Pam Voorhees, with most reactions landing in a mixed-to-negative space. The core idea of exploring her grief gets slammed as a dull and unoriginal story, and the portrayal of both Pamela and Jason Voorhees is getting a very cold reception. The main bright spot is Linda Cardellini's casting, which is seen as a strong choice for the lead role. The trailer looks good visually, but that's not enough to shake the feeling that this is a misguided take on the franchise.
