Crystal Lake Trailer Shows a Grieving Pamela Voorhees's Descent Into Madness
The first trailer for Peacock's "Friday the 13th" prequel series "Crystal Lake" is here, and it's all about mom. Per multiple outlets, the series stars Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees, the mother of Jason, in a story set in 1971.
According to Collider, the plot kicks off when Pamela's disabled son Jason drowns at Camp Crystal Lake due to counselor neglect. The tragedy sends her spiraling into violent grief and madness, with camp counselors soon meeting gruesome ends. ScreenRant reports the trailer shows Pamela becoming increasingly obsessive, interrogating a child in a hospital bed and refusing to believe her son is truly gone.
The series is a prequel to the original 1980 film and is set nearly a decade before its events. As reported by /Film, the show's synopsis states that two strangers digging into Pam's past arrive at her door, setting off a disturbing chain of events for the town.
Brad Caleb Kane serves as creator and showrunner. The cast, as listed by the outlets, includes Cardellini alongside William Catlett, with other series regulars being Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, and Gwendolyn Sundstrom. Callum Vinson plays young Jason.
All eight episodes of "Crystal Lake" will premiere on Peacock on October 15, 2026.
