Druski Signs Netflix Deal, Launches Megachurch Comedy Series
Comedian Druski has inked a multi-year pact with Netflix, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Under the agreement, he and his production company will create new shows solely for the streaming platform.
The first project is a semi-scripted series called 'Collect & Praise,' set to premiere on December 1 per Variety. Druski will star as a money-hungry pastor, with Mike Epps playing his deacon; the duo will navigate various scandals and schemes.
The show expands on a viral internet character Druski has performed, including during a hosting stint at the BET Awards. In a statement, Druski said the Netflix deal provides the means to grow his brand and connect with viewers worldwide.
As part of the arrangement, Netflix will also license some of Druski's existing online content, such as his 'Coulda Been' series. A Netflix executive stated that this new series is merely the start of their collaboration with the comedian.
Druski, whose real name is Drew Desbordes, is also set to host Saturday Night Live this weekend, marking the first time a digital creator has taken on that role.
