In an interview with People, Johnson reportedly said of the first reviews, "They were amazing," but acknowledged the subsequent backlash. The Hollywood Reporter notes he later added a more zen take, stating, "If you love it, great. If you don't, no problem."
The actor framed the negative reception as simply part of the Hollywood game, suggesting it's "just the way it goes." The film is also reported to have underperformed at the box office.
