Electronic Arts is now owned by a Saudi-led investor consortium
A major shift in the games industry is official. Nintendo Life reports that Electronic Arts is now fully owned by a group of investors including Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners.
The deal, which was previously announced last year, has now closed following regulatory approval. The acquisition ends EA's long run as a publicly-traded company.
The investor group, referred to as a consortium, stated it is "excited to support the company." The PIF's stake makes this one of the most significant Saudi investments in the global gaming market.
