Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will be a 200GB, 100-hour behemoth

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will be a 200GB, 100-hour behemoth

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is shaping up to be a massive finale, both in terms of file size and playtime, according to director Naoki Hamaguchi.

Per Eurogamer and Kotaku, Hamaguchi told VGC the game's install size will be "around 200GB." He acknowledged the controversial file size but stated the team needed to "overcome the hardware to a certain extent." The game will require an internet download even for physical copies.

GameSpot reports that Hamaguchi also estimates a full playthrough, including campaign, side activities, and endgame content, could take up to 100 hours. He has personally played through the entire game 46 times during development.

The director also teased two post-launch DLC packs focused on Sephiroth and Vincent Valentine. According to Eurogamer, these will be similar in size to the Intermission DLC from the first Remake game.

Hamaguchi pointed to one example of expanded content: an upgraded piano minigame. Per Kotaku, he said this revamped feature will now contain new information about the character Tifa.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is scheduled to launch on April 8, 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
