Florence Pugh Says Tom Holland Is the Reason She's in New Spider-Man
Florence Pugh credited her Marvel co-star for creating the opportunity for her to appear in "Spider-Man: Brand New Day." According to Variety, Pugh revealed on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" that Yelena Belova fans can thank Tom Holland for the crossover.
"This all happened because of Tom," Pugh told the host. She explained that years ago, just after "Black Widow" launched her Marvel role, Holland was asked on a red carpet who he wanted to work with next in a movie.
Pugh says Holland's response was to name her and her character, Yelena. She said that single comment is what got fans excited about the idea, and it ultimately led to her recent appearance in the new Spider-Man film.
Pugh has played the assassin Yelena Belova since 2021's "Black Widow," and has since reprised the role in 2025's "Thunderbolts*" and now 2026's "Spider-Man: Brand New Day."
