Gameplay footage for an unannounced Persona 1 remake leaks online

A video reportedly showing gameplay from a remake of the original Persona game has surfaced online, according to IGN. The nearly two-minute clip showed a modernized version of the RPG, though neither Sega nor Atlus has announced such a project.
The footage first appeared on Reddit before spreading across social media platforms, IGN reports. Fans analyzing the clip point to details like character animations and music that align with Atlus's recent work as evidence of its authenticity. Notably, some animations appear to be shared with the upcoming Persona 4 Revival.
Character models in the video raised questions, IGN notes, with the Persona 2 protagonist Tatsuya appearing in a spot where an unfinished model might be. Some online speculation suggests the footage could be an internal pitch video or a proof-of-concept from an earlier stage of development.
Atlus has a history of leaks, IGN states, with both Persona 3 Reload and the unannounced Persona 6 having material surface online before official reveals. P-Studio producer Kazuhisa Wada previously said remakes of the first two Persona games are something the team "has to do."
IGN has contacted Sega for comment on the leaked footage.
