Hulu axes Mindy Kaling's 'Not Suitable for Work' after one season
Hulu has pulled the plug on Mindy Kaling's comedy series "Not Suitable for Work" after its debut run, according to an exclusive report from Variety. The streamer will not order a second season.
Warner Bros. Television, the studio behind the show, is now expected to try and find a new network or platform to pick it up, per the same report. The series launched this past summer with a nine-episode season.
The show featured a cast led by Ella Hunt, Avantika, Will Angus, Jack Martin, and Nicholas Duvernay, with Jay Ellis also starring. As reported by TVLine, the plot centered on a group of five friends in their twenties navigating careers and personal lives in Manhattan's Murray Hill neighborhood.
A sizable roster of recurring guest stars appeared throughout the season, including Victor Garber, Constance Wu, Ego Nwodim, and Greg Germann. Kaling created the series and served as an executive producer alongside showrunner Charlie Grandy.
TVLine notes that the series earned an average "B-" grade from its readers when it premiered. This project marked Kaling's first sole creator credit since "The Mindy Project."
