IT: Welcome to Derry prequel series renewed for season 2 at HBO Max

Pennywise is coming back for more. HBO Max has officially ordered a second season of the horror series It: Welcome to Derry, as reported by Polygon.

The show is a prequel to the recent It films, exploring the dark history of Stephen King's fictional Maine town. The first season, set in 1962, followed a group of kids and adults investigating the supernatural evil beneath Derry, with Bill Skarsgård returning as the clown-faced entity.

Per the outlet, season two will travel further into the past. The story will be set in 1935 and will focus on the brutal fate of the Bradley Gang, a crew of bank robbers whose doomed visit to Derry is a noted tragedy from King's original novel.

HBO has not revealed casting details for the new season or confirmed if Skarsgård will officially reprise his role. A release date for the next chapter has also not been set.
