Jailer 2 is world's second-highest grossing film last weekend

Rajinikanth's latest flick just flexed some serious muscle at the global box office. Per Variety, the Tamil-language action comedy 'Jailer 2' earned a whopping $31.2 million worldwide over the October 16-18 weekend, according to Rentrak estimates.

That massive haul was only beaten by one other film. Paramount's 'Street Fighter' topped the charts with $51.1 million, making the sequel a global runner-up.

The Nelson Dilipkumar-directed movie opened in India on October 15. Its domestic performance was massive, grossing an estimated INR224 crore, which is about $23.5 million.

While 'Street Fighter' took the crown, the strong showing for 'Jailer 2' proves Rajinikanth's star power continues to be a major international draw.
