Lily-Rose Depp to lead Playboy Mansion coming-of-age film for Searchlight
Lily-Rose Depp is set to star in a new Searchlight Pictures drama set in the Playboy Mansion, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film, titled 'Playmates,' will mark the feature directorial debut of Lorraine Nicholson. Nicholson penned the script based on her own childhood, which included regular visits to the famous mansion in the 1990s.
The story focuses on a 13-year-old girl who thinks of the mansion as a second home. She meets Anna, one of seven contenders for Playmate of the Month, and the two forge a friendship as they help each other pursue their goals. Per the outlet, Depp will play the aspiring Playmate, while rising actress Indiana Elle will play the young girl.
Bill Pullman has been cast to portray Playboy founder Hugh Hefner. Nicholson's script draws from her personal memories of the estate, which she once viewed as magical. She later came to understand she did not fit in with the adult crowd that populated the grounds.
Alex Orlovsky and Duncan Montgomery are producing, with Depp also serving as a producer. Searchlight's Richard Ruiz and Cornelia Burleigh will oversee the project.
