Loki is now essential viewing before Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters

The show, which ended three years ago, follows the variant of Tom Hiddleston's trickster god who escaped with the Tesseract. While its time-travel logic sometimes conflicts with rules set in Avengers: Endgame, the series builds its own framework for the multiverse with organizations like the TVA.
MovieWeb reports that the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday will directly use events from Loki. Hiddleston's character is confirmed to return, and the film is expected to involve the multiverse threads his character now oversees.
In a July 2026 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hiddleston stated that his character's development in the series will not be reversed. "Loki felt like a closure," he said. "That development still stands as a place to begin" for the new film.
The outlet concludes that watching both seasons of Loki will be key to understanding the December 18 release, Avengers: Doomsday.
