Mark Harmon Returns as Gibbs in New NCIS: Origins Season 3 Trailer
Mark Harmon is officially back on screen as Leroy Jethro Gibbs. The first trailer for 'NCIS: Origins' Season 3, released by CBS, shows the character leaving his Alaskan retirement, per TVLine. In the clip, he packs a bag, tells his dog it's "time to get to work," and later walks into his old NCIS office.
TVLine reports that Harmon will appear in every episode of the ten-episode third season. The story involves a dual-timeline mystery, with Harmon's present-day Gibbs confronting a cold case from the 1990s that his younger self, played by Austin Stowell, is also investigating.
According to MovieWeb, the season picks up after the kidnapping of agent Randy, played by Caleb Foote, which uncovers a secret forcing Harmon's Gibbs to act. The premiere, titled "Don't You Forget About Me," will see ghosts from Gibbs's past shatter his peaceful retirement.
In the 1992 timeline, the younger NCIS team works to find their missing colleague while Gibbs and Lala Dominguez, played by Mariel Molino, navigate their evolving relationship. The prequel series is set to premiere on October 6, 2026.
