Sylvester Stallone Explains Tulsa King's Shocking Deaths and Dwight's New Path

Margaret and Governor Thresher are officially dead, as confirmed in the latest episode of Tulsa King, per TVLine. The brutal double murder leaves a stunned Dwight Manfredi, played by Sylvester Stallone, in deep grief.
Stallone, who is also an executive producer, told TVLine the deaths were his idea to shake up the series. He and head writer Terence Winter wanted to make Dwight an underdog again, feeling his success had made the show predictable. "Tragedy hits. It hurts," Stallone said.
The actor drew inspiration from his own Rocky films, specifically the off-screen death of Adrian before Rocky Balboa. He noted that loss forced Rocky to fight grief, something universal to the audience. Stallone applied that logic to Dwight, promising, "what is going to come out of it is sensational."
Looking ahead to the recently announced Season 5, Stallone previewed a darker, more paranoid Dwight. The character will be playing a dangerous game of chess, constantly planning and never living in the moment. Stallone described it as "a life of paranoia."
This season will also see Dwight grappling with survivor's guilt and turning to religion and superstition for answers. Stallone noted Dwight even uses AI to question God, tortured by why he survived when others did not.
