Marvel shocks fans by axing 'Wonder Man' after already renewing it for Season 2
In a stunning reversal, Marvel Studios has scrapped its 'Wonder Man' series, according to exclusive reporting from Variety. The Disney+ show, which starred Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, was officially renewed for a second season just months ago.
Per the report, a writers' room for the new season was never opened, and the writing staff has been released. TheWrap notes Abdul-Mateen II earned an Emmy nomination for his role in the Marvel project.
The sudden cancellation, reported by outlets like Polygon and JoBlo, is a rare move for Marvel, which had already announced the Season 2 renewal. This leaves the acclaimed series, also featuring Ben Kingsley, dead on arrival for a sophomore run.
