Monster Hunter Wilds expansion Ascendance reveals Teostra and new difficulty tools

Monster Hunter Wilds expansion Ascendance reveals Teostra and new difficulty tools

Capcom has revealed a major returning monster for the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds expansion, Ascendance. According to Eurogamer, the first extended trailer, shown at Tokyo Game Show, confirms the explosive Elder Dragon Teostra as a huntable foe.

The footage reportedly shows Teostra with enhanced moves, including charging follow-ups to its signature divebomb nova attacks. Per the report, this suggests the fight will be even more challenging than its previous appearances, requiring perfect dodges or blocks to survive.

To help hunters cope, Capcom is introducing a new 'Boost Bracer' mechanic. The system, described previously by the developer, lets players build energy through aggressive attacks to activate enhanced abilities and new combos. Eurogamer speculates this could allow players to counter Teostra's blistering assault more effectively.

The outlet notes that the reveal appears to address long-standing player complaints about Monster Hunter Wilds being too easy at launch. The expansion will also bring gameplay refinements like faster weapon swapping and the ability to change equipment outside of tents, which will also be added to the base game.

Capcom states the Ascendance expansion is set to launch in 2027.
