NBA star warns pro sports performance will drop thanks to GTA 6
Houston Rockets center Steven Adams has playfully warned that the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6 will cause a temporary performance dip across multiple pro sports leagues this November.
Speaking to media, Adams said, per IGN, "You guys should anticipate November. The performance of the league... league-wide. GTA is dropping." He predicted players and coaches in leagues like the NBA and NFL would see their focus falter.
Adams joked that the slump should be confined to November. "Look at all the leagues, and watch them plummet, mate," he said. He expects things to bounce back in December "once they've spent enough time with the game."
His comments came alongside news of a massive GTA 6 marketing push in Miami. According to reports, Rockstar Games has installed a huge "Welcome to Vice City" sign on the roof of the Miami Heat's Kaseya Center arena, with construction reportedly costing $975,000.
The sign is part of a broader campaign taking over the stadium with giant letters. GameSpot reported that the installation required aerial support from a helicopter to lift the massive signage into place.
