Practical Magic 2 Brews $4.7 Million in Thursday Previews
The Owens sisters are back and bringing in the cash. Warner Bros.' sequel 'Practical Magic 2' conjured up $4.7 million from its Thursday night preview showings, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman return as witchy sisters Sally and Gillian in director Susanne Bier's follow-up, which is playing in over 4,000 theaters. The studio is predicting the film could scare up between $30 million and $35 million for its full opening weekend domestically.
That projection puts it on a path to end the six-week box office reign of the latest Spider-Man movie. Per THR, the superhero flick is finally expected to be knocked out of first place.
JoBlo also noted that the sequel's early financial performance is ahead of initial forecasts. The film adapts another story from author Alice Hoffman and features a cast that includes Joey King, Maisie Williams, and Lee Pace.
