Sacha Baron Cohen leads 300 Ali G look-alikes on London tour for new film

Sacha Baron Cohen hit the streets of London on Sunday with a crew of 300 fans all dressed as his iconic character, Ali G. The star, clad in the character's signature yellow tracksuit, led the massive group on a tour of city landmarks, per The Hollywood Reporter.

The event saw the look-alikes riding double-decker buses, throwing a boat party on the Thames, and posing for photos near Big Ben. The festivities wrapped up at a Leicester Square cinema where Cohen judged an Ali G lookalike contest.

The whole stunt was a promotion for the upcoming movie 'Ali G: Who Iz I?', which marks Cohen's feature directorial debut. According to the report, the comedy will get a special one-week run in cinemas starting October 23 before moving to Amazon's Prime Video.

In a statement written in Ali G's dialect, the character joked about the event being London's biggest crowd since the Paris Olympics and claimed it boosted the local economy, with a nod to shoplifting at a major retailer.

The film's plot will follow Ali G traveling to America after discovering his girlfriend is eight months pregnant.
