Sonic Speeds Into Angry Birds Movie 3 In New Trailer
The blue blur is crashing the bird party this Christmas. A new trailer for The Angry Birds Movie 3 reveals a surprise cameo from Sega's iconic speedster, Sonic the Hedgehog, according to reports from Kotaku and Polygon.
In the clip, Sonic is seen running alongside Chuck, the yellow bird voiced by Josh Gad, through a wooded area. Both characters are laughing as they sprint. The cameo is brief, and the reason for Sonic's presence in the avian world is not yet explained.
The crossover makes corporate sense, as Polygon notes Sega acquired Angry Birds developer Rovio in 2023. Both franchises are also under the Paramount Pictures film umbrella for this movie, with Kotaku pointing out that the studio now holds the rights to this installment.
The trailer suggests the film will be heavy on pop culture references and physical comedy. Polygon's description mentions the footage includes "surprising projectile vomiting" and that the plot involves Red, voiced by Jason Sudeikis, juggling fatherhood while facing a pig threat.
The Angry Birds Movie 3 is scheduled to hit theaters on December 23. Sonic's next solo live-action film, Sonic the Hedgehog 4, is slated for March 19, 2027.
