Sony exec Rothman cheers 'Spider-Man' success, reveals losing bid for 'Obsession'
Sony's Tom Rothman touted the studio's latest box office win during an industry conference in France this week.
Speaking at the Lumière Summit in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, Rothman celebrated the massive performance of "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," per Variety. The film is currently the highest-grossing movie of 2026.
The chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment's Motion Picture Group also revealed a recent loss for the studio. He confirmed Sony was outbid for a project called "Obsession," though he did not specify who won the rights.
Rothman's remarks came during a broader conversation at the international film and entertainment conference.
