Spider-Man: Brand New Day Hits $800 Million Domestically Faster Than Any Movie Ever
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the newest Spider-Man film continues to shatter box office records. Sony confirmed that 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' has crossed $800 million in North American ticket sales after just 19 days in theaters, setting a new speed record for reaching that milestone.
The domestic total now sits at $803.9 million, making it the fourth highest-grossing film ever in the region. It now trails only its predecessor, 'Spider-Man: No Way Home,' which holds third place with $814.8 million.
The movie, starring Tom Holland, also recently sailed past the $2 billion mark worldwide. That makes it the eighth film in history to do so and the new all-time highest earner for Sony, surpassing the global total of 'No Way Home.'
Only four films have ever earned $800 million domestically. The previous record for fastest to that figure was held by 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens,' which took 23 days.
The report notes the film also set a new high mark for a debut weekend in North America, pulling in $360 million. It followed that by posting the biggest first-week domestic gross in history and becoming the second-quickest film to hit $1 billion globally.
