Spider-Man: Brand New Day holds top theater count in week five
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is still playing on more screens than any other film, even as two new major releases hit theaters this weekend.
The Sony and Marvel collaboration will be in 3,678 locations. That number just beats the 3,575 theaters showing the new Looney Tunes comedy Coyote vs. Acme. Ridley Scott's The Dog Stars is opening in 3,330 venues.
Brand New Day has been a historic box office performer since its late July debut. It holds records for biggest opening day and weekend, and is currently the highest-grossing film of the year.
The report projects the superhero movie will add between 22 and 27 million dollars to its domestic total over the coming days. That push is expected to lift it past Titanic on the all-time earnings chart.
