Sony and Marvel are planning a theatrical re-release of "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" with new, previously unseen footage, according to reports from Variety and The Hollywood Reporter.
Per THR, one confirmed piece of added material is a scene featuring Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, a character she played in several Netflix Marvel series. The scene was filmed but cut from the version that launched on July 31.
Variety confirms the re-release is in the works but notes that a specific date has not been set. Details about other new footage beyond Dawson's scene are still unknown.
The film, starring Tom Holland and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, has earned $2.49 billion worldwide. It recently became the highest-grossing film ever at the domestic box office, per Variety.
