Spider-Man's Box Office Run Is Absolutely Historic

The new Spider-Man movie is rewriting the record books with shocking speed. Per Variety, 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' first smashed the record for the biggest opening weekend in movie history, a feat the outlet says happens maybe once a decade.

Now, it's proving that wasn't a fluke. The film's second weekend soared to a staggering $145 million domestically, according to Variety, which is the third-biggest second weekend of all time.

JoBlo reports that the haul puts it in truly elite company, performing just slightly below what 'Avengers: Endgame' and 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' managed in their second frames. For context, Variety notes only one film this year, 'Toy Story 5', opened to numbers in that same range.
