Street Fighter poised for box office win in crowded weekend

The Hollywood Reporter projects Street Fighter will land a knockout at the box office this weekend, with Paramount and Legendary eyeing a muscular $30 million-plus domestic debut. The video game adaptation, starring Noah Centineo and Andrew Koji, hits over 3,500 theaters.
It faces a school of newcomers, including 20th Century Studios' survival thriller Whalefall. Per THR, the $60 million film about a diver swallowed by a sperm whale is projected to open between $10-$12 million from about 3,065 locations.
A24 is also aiming high with the buzzy Elizabeth Holmes documentary You Can See Everything. The studio expects a strong $7 million launch from roughly 800 theaters for the $5 million production, which follows the Theranos founder before her prison sentence.
Focus Features enters the fray with its new adaptation of Sense and Sensibility, starring Daisy Edgar-Jones. The studio projects an $8 million opening from 2,436 locations for the film, which carries a budget in the mid-$20 millions.
