Switch 2 update finally unlocks docked VRR and system transfers
A new system update for the Switch 2 has activated a promised feature the console was missing at launch. Per VGC and Eurogamer, version 23.0.0 now enables variable refresh rate support when the system is connected to a TV.
This VRR feature, which syncs a display's refresh rate with the game's frame rate to reduce visual hiccups, requires both a compatible TV and game software. Users must update their dock's firmware and toggle the setting on in the system menus.
The patch also introduces a long-awaited function for moving a user's entire profile and data from one Switch 2 to another. This arrives just as Nintendo prepares to launch a special Zelda-themed hardware model in October, according to VGC.
Other additions include the option to play nostalgic background music from the Wii, 3DS, and Wii U eras while creating or editing Mii characters. The same system update also applies to the original Nintendo Switch.
