Trailer for lavish Disney+ K-drama 'The Remarried Empress' reveals royal scandal
The first full trailer is out for Disney+ and Hulu's big-budget Korean series "The Remarried Empress," and it's all about palace intrigue and romantic betrayal. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the show is a lavish adaptation of a Naver Webtoon that has racked up nearly 3 billion views globally.
The trailer opens with Shin Min-a's Empress Navier questioning her love for her husband, Emperor Sovieshu, played by Ju Ji-hoon. His affections shift when a runaway slave named Rashta, portrayed by Lee Se-young, arrives at court.
As the royal marriage crumbles, Navier finds herself drawn to Crown Prince Heinrey of a rival kingdom, played by Lee Jong-suk. When the emperor tries to discard her, Navier makes a bold counter-proposal: she will agree, but only if she can marry the prince instead.
The 10-episode series was filmed across Europe and on elaborate palace sets. It's slated to debut with four episodes on November 4, with two new episodes dropping each Wednesday through November 25.
Before hitting streaming, the drama will first be showcased at a major Korean film festival this fall, with an extended multi-episode screening.
