VisionQuest showrunner confirms Marvel's Watcher had a hidden cameo
A subtle cameo in the sixth episode of Marvel's 'VisionQuest' has been officially revealed by the show's creative lead. Per /Film, showrunner Terry Matalas confirmed on social media that the mysterious figure is none other than Uatu the Watcher.
The moment occurs in the episode 'Deadlock' during a standoff in Madripoor. As the episode's mysterious Client hacks the city, a brief shot at the 32 minute mark reveals a silhouette with a pair of eyes peering from a doorway in the background.
This marks the latest secret appearance for the cosmic observer, voiced by Jeffrey Wright in the MCU's 'What If...?' animated series. The character and his race are oath-bound to watch history without interference, though he famously breaks that rule.
The outlet notes Uatu also made a background appearance in an episode of 'X-Men '97' just before a major catastrophe. His specific interest in Vision's current storyline, which involves a freed Ultron and the android Jocasta's global nanite plan, remains unclear.
However, the Watcher has prior multiversal history with Ultron. In an episode of 'What If...?', an Ultron who possessed Vision's body gained the Infinity Stones, became aware of the Watcher, and nearly destroyed the multiverse.
