Don't Say Good Luck

This is a solidly liked high school drama carried by strong performances. Sunny Sandler gets a lot of attention as Sophie Birenbaum, the aspiring lead dealing with family issues, and most people think she's great, while Melanie Lynskey is a clear standout as her mom. The acting across the board is the main draw, with Bebe Neuwirth, Steve Buscemi, and Max Greenfield all getting perfect praise from those who mentioned them. The story about balancing stage dreams with home life is decent, if familiar, though a few people really hated a plot element involving the "Crane House" and some characters like Ted. It's not breaking new ground, but the cast makes it work.
