The film

When Rick, a past-his-prime wedding singer, meets fading boy-band star Danny during a gig, the two bond over music and a late-night jam session. But when Danny turns one of Rick’s songs into the hit that reignites his career, Rick sets out to reclaim the recognition he believes he deserves - even if it means risking everything he cares about.

The real review

Most people really liked this one, and the charm comes almost entirely from the cast. Paul Rudd as the washed-up wedding singer Rick Power and Nick Jonas as the fading star Danny Wilson are the heart of it, with Rudd in particular carrying the film. The story of Rick trying to reclaim his stolen song is solid, if a bit familiar, but the chemistry and humor are so winning that the flaws don't matter much. It's a crowd-pleaser.
