The adventures of 11-year-old Flavia de Luce, who is both an amateur detective and a master poisoner. When she discovers a dead body in her family’s decaying British manor house and her father is accused of the murder, Flavia launches her own investigation to uncover family secrets and bring the true murderer to justice.

Molly Belle Wright is a near-perfect Flavia de Luce, an 11-year-old amateur detective and poison expert whose sharp performance is the main reason to watch. The mystery itself—she investigates a body found at her family's manor to clear her father—feels a bit thin and familiar to some, keeping the overall reaction more split than rapturous. Still, the cast, including Martin Freeman and Toby Jones, is solid across the board, even if the film's visual style didn't leave much of an impression.
