This is the rambunctious, ridiculous and totally true story of how the Minions conquered Hollywood, became movie stars, lost everything, unleashed monsters onto the world and then banded together to try and save the planet from the mayhem they had just created.

This one's a mixed bag that mostly works for the fans, thanks to the Minions' reliably goofy antics and a ton of visual gags. The story, where the little yellow guys accidentally unleash monsters and then try to save the world, is standard stuff and the pacing is a bit of a mess, but the humor and animation are top-notch. Jesse Eisenberg's nervous character Dort is a standout, and the Minions themselves are as silly and charming as ever. The main complaint is that the "monsters" part of the plot feels tacked on and doesn't really land, with some viewers finding the whole concept a bit forced.
