A Killzone Revival Is Reportedly In The Works As A Remaster Or Remake
Sony may be bringing its long-dormant Killzone shooter franchise back to life. According to a report from MP1st, picked up by outlets including IGN, Kotaku, and Polygon, the project is in the early stages and is being developed as a remaster or remake.
The report claims Guerrilla Games, the original creator of the series, is collaborating with an external studio on the project. While not definitively confirmed, MP1st suggests the partner could be People Can Fly, the studio behind Outriders and Bulletstorm, which signed a co-development deal with PlayStation in March 2025 on a project codenamed Delta.
It is unclear which Killzone game is getting the refresh, but multiple outlets note the original 2004 PlayStation 2 title is considered the most likely candidate. The report from MP1st also speculates the project could potentially evolve into a more substantial reboot of the series.
Guerrilla Games is currently focused on Horizon Hunters Gathering, a live-service multiplayer spinoff that was reportedly rebooted after negative feedback. Per MP1st, the Killzone project was meant to be the studio's next focus, but the reboot of the Horizon game has taken priority for now.
The last mainline Killzone game was 2013's Shadow Fall, a PlayStation 4 launch title. The series has been inactive since, save for minor crossovers in other games.
