Andrzej Sapkowski targets 2027 for next Witcher novel starring Geralt
The Witcher author Andrzej Sapkowski has confirmed his next novel is already in the works, per IGN.
Speaking at a convention in Poland, the writer outlined his plans for another book starring Geralt of Rivia, aiming to finish it in 2027. He specifically shot down a fan suggestion to focus on other characters like Yennefer, confirming Geralt will be the protagonist.
While Sapkowski didn't explicitly call it another prequel, he hinted there is ample room for more stories about Geralt's early life. He also told IGN he is considering a return to the short story format that launched the series.
Assuming he meets his goal, Sapkowski's Polish-language readers could get the book around the end of 2027, with versions in English likely arriving a year or so later.
The news arrives as the Witcher franchise expands on other fronts. A slate of full-cast audiobook dramas is planned through 2026 and 2027, starting with the recent prequel novel Crossroads of Ravens.
Sapkowski also amusingly noted he is 'open to suggestions' for future adaptations, pointing out the franchise already has two musicals.
