Avengers: Doomsday projected to crush Dune 3 at box office on Dunesday

According to /Film, the upcoming box office battle known as 'Dunesday' already has a clear winner based on presale data. Avengers: Doomsday is expected to dominate the December 2026 weekend by a massive margin over Dune: Part Three.
Box office analyst EmpireCity Box Office stated on social media that presales show 'Doomsday' winning by a ratio of 3.2 to 1 or even 4 to 1. The account declared the Marvel film an incoming juggernaut with no real competition, per the report.
The outlet notes that the Avengers sequel has already shattered one record, crossing $50 million in presales a full 100 days before release. While Dune: Part Three has performed very well for IMAX, the broader mainstream appeal is cited as a key advantage for the superhero team-up.
Both films are competing for similar audiences and premium screens. However, /Film states that an Avengers film was always going to have a higher financial ceiling than Denis Villeneuve's sci-fi adaptation, which has never reached the billion-dollar mark globally.
