James Gunn Says DCU Batman Casting Isn't Far Off

James Gunn says the search for the DC Universe's new Batman is heating up. The DC Studios co-chief revealed in a podcast appearance that the casting process for the character is close to beginning, per TheWrap.
Gunn stated, "It won't be too long before we're casting Batman." He clarified that no casting decisions have been made, dismissing speculation about cameos as "all bullshit."
He emphasized his desire to find the best actor for the role, not just a movie star. "One of the things that excites me about casting Batman is being able to pick a Batman who's actually the best actor for that role," Gunn said. He noted that historically, Superman actors have been chosen this way, while Batman choices often favored star power.
The director also offered a key detail about the character's age. According to Gunn, the DCU's Batman will be "roughly" the same age as David Corenswet's Superman, describing them as "future best pals, contemporaries."
The new Batman is expected to debut in the upcoming film "The Brave and the Bold," which will be separate from Robert Pattinson's iteration of the character.
