Backrooms 2 Officially Taps Original Director Kane Parsons
The breakout horror hit 'Backrooms' is officially getting a sequel, and its original director is locked in to return. According to a report from Dread Central, filmmaker Kane Parsons will direct 'Backrooms 2' for A24, per coverage from JoBlo and Polygon.
Parsons, who first created the viral 'Backrooms' short films on YouTube before directing the A24 feature, is set to make the sequel his next project. The first film was a massive box office success for the studio, grossing over $394 million globally.
In an interview with Variety earlier this year, Parsons hinted at a larger plan for the property. He stated the story was always conceived to extend beyond a single movie and that he was contractually bound for future installments.
The original film followed a furniture store owner and his therapist after they fell through reality into a vast, eerie labyrinth. While details on the sequel's plot are under wraps, an official announcement from A24 is reportedly imminent.
