Biopic about YouTube gambler Vegas Matt in development

A new indie film about the controversial YouTube gambler known as Vegas Matt is officially in the works, per an exclusive report from The Hollywood Reporter.

The project, titled 'The Chop,' will chart the real-life story of Stephen Matt Morrow, who transformed from a family man into a high-stakes betting personality and online influencer. Filmmaker Mike Young is spearheading the project.

According to the report, the film will follow Morrow as he dives into the world of professional gambling in Las Vegas, eventually teaming up with a group of fellow gamblers. As their notoriety grows, the protagonist must face the personal costs of his newfound fame.

Young told The Hollywood Reporter that Morrow personally hired him to write the script. The filmmaker said he was captivated by the personal stakes of the story, calling it a tale about faith, camaraderie, and an unexpected version of success.

Morrow himself stated that the compelling part of his journey isn't the wins or losses, but the hidden world and relationships formed around them. He expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with Young to adapt their experiences for film.

'The Chop' is currently targeting a 2027 production start. Further details on financing, casting, and a director are expected to be announced later.
