BioWare documentary 'Massive Effect' to show studio's final years

A documentary filmed during BioWare's final years is on the way, per reports from IGN and Kotaku. Titled 'Massive Effect: The BioWare Story,' the project will include interviews and footage from the last two years of the studio's operation.

The film will premiere on Canada's Super Channel sometime in 2027, according to IGN. It will then have a film festival run before a worldwide release through UpstreamFlix.

IGN reports that producers Shane Fennessey and Adam Scorgie are behind the documentary. It will feature interviews with former staff including Mass Effect game director Casey Hudson and voice actress Jennifer Hale. Kotaku adds that founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk, along with developers like Mark Darrah and David Gaider, will also appear.

In a statement provided to Deadline and shared by Kotaku, co-founders Muzyka and Zeschuk said they were 'honored and deeply moved' by the project. They stated the film honors the developers and fans who brought BioWare's stories to life.

BioWare was shut down by EA last month. The documentary began filming two years ago, potentially offering a behind-the-scenes look at work on the canceled game known as Mass Effect: Universe.
