Blizzard Says Its StarCraft Shooter Won't Be Xbox Only In 2030
Blizzard Entertainment has made one thing clear about its upcoming StarCraft game: you won't need an Xbox to play it at launch. Per IGN's reporting, representatives for the developer confirmed the open-world shooter "won't be exclusive" in 2030.
The clarification came in email exchanges with Kotaku following BlizzCon 2026. While the company's recent cinematic trailer for the project, called 'Dominion,' didn't list platforms, Xbox UK had previously mentioned an "Xbox console" release was planned.
When pressed, Blizzard told Kotaku it could only state the title would not be exclusive. The developer added that if any outlet labeled the game as an Xbox-exclusive, it would request a correction. This suggests plans for at least one additional platform beyond Microsoft's consoles.
What that other platform might be remains a mystery. Blizzard would not say if PlayStation or a future Nintendo system would be supported. With roughly four years of development left, the studio is keeping its cards close to the vest.
The report notes the entire console landscape could look different by 2030, with new hardware from Microsoft and Sony potentially on the market. Blizzard announced the long-rumored StarCraft revival just over a week ago and has only shown that initial trailer so far.
