Blizzard unveils World of Warcraft Forever, a 'Classic Plus' MMO launching in November
Blizzard closed out its BlizzCon 2026 Opening Ceremony with a mic drop announcement: World of Warcraft Forever, a new take on WoW Classic. IGN and other outlets reported the news.
Per the announcement, the game is developed by the WoW Classic team and is set during the MMORPG's first year. It's described by GameSpot as a reboot that adds new content while keeping the old-school world and gameplay intact.
World of Warcraft Forever will introduce three entirely new zones and overhaul several existing ones, according to IGN. It also includes over 1,000 new quests, nine new dungeons, and a brand new playable race.
PC Gamer reports the project's strategy is reminiscent of Old School RuneScape, using the original game as a starting point for new stories that weren't told the first time around. A cinematic was shown during the ceremony.
A beta for the game begins this week, and the full release is dated for November 4, as reported by IGN. PC Gamer adds that the game is covered by the standard WoW subscription, but optional upgrade packs starting at $30 will be available.
