Bloodborne Still Sells Hundreds of Thousands of Copies a Year

A decade-old PlayStation exclusive is still a major seller. According to IGN, data from Alinea Analytics estimates Bloodborne has sold over 251,000 copies in 2024 alone, adding to a lifetime total north of 10.4 million units.

The game also maintains a strong player base. Per the report, roughly half a million people played it via PS Plus in October. The data indicates a dedicated fan community, with many also playing other FromSoftware titles like Elden Ring.

Interest persists despite the game's technical limitations. It remains locked to 30 frames per second on PlayStation 5, with no official remaster or upgrade in sight. IGN notes that a pitch for a remake from Bluepoint Games was reportedly turned down by FromSoftware itself.

Conflicting statements have surrounded the IP's future. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki has previously stated the decision isn't his to make, while former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida has speculated Miyazaki is protective of the project. In other news, Sony has announced plans for a mature animated film based on the game.
