Call of Duty on Switch 2 slammed for 'deleterious' input lag disadvantage

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is giving Switch 2 players a raw deal in multiplayer, according to a technical review. IGN reports that Digital Foundry's analysis found the port suffers from severe input lag that puts players at a 'competitive disadvantage'.

The analysis found input lag on the Switch 2 can be double that of the PS5. In portable mode, latency ranged from 83 milliseconds at best to a staggering 125 milliseconds at worst. Digital Foundry called this 'actually deleterious to performance,' per IGN.

While the Switch 2 version generally hits its 60fps target in multiplayer, the sluggish response time means players' actions take longer to register. This makes fast-paced competitive matches a significant challenge compared to other platforms.

In a separate report, GameSpot notes that Activision is removing a controversial segment from the game. The publisher will cut real-life footage of the 2022 Itaewon crowd crush tragedy from the game in an upcoming update, following backlash from victims' families.
