Mass Effect Graffiti Spotted Outside EA Madrid Office

Frustrated fans have escalated their campaign to save the Mass Effect series, with spray-painted graffiti appearing outside an EA office in Madrid. Per Kotaku, the words “SAVE MASS EFFECT” were scrawled on the floor and a wall in front of the building’s entrance. A Reddit user shared photos of the vandalism, saying they stumbled upon the scene after leaving a movie theater.

This act follows other fan-led efforts to protest EA’s recent decision to close BioWare, effectively putting the Mass Effect franchise on indefinite hold. According to IGN, a petition calling for the series’ continuation has gathered over 290,000 signatures. Another group of fans previously funded a “Save Mass Effect” billboard in New York City’s Times Square.

The tactic of graffiti has received mixed reactions within the community. Some fans online questioned whether vandalism was the right way to make EA reconsider the value of the IP.

Kotaku notes that the Spanish office primarily works on EA Sports titles, not Mass Effect. IGN reports that, despite the campaigns, EA has not indicated any change of heart, having reportedly canceled plans for Mass Effect 5 in favor of other projects.
