Christian Bale Opens Massive Foster Care Village to Keep Siblings Together
Christian Bale is building a new kind of Gotham. Per Variety, the actor just cut the ribbon on a sprawling foster care facility in Palmdale, California.
The 11,000-square-foot community, named Together California, officially opened last Friday. Its core mission is to prevent brothers and sisters from being separated when they enter the system.
Bale spoke to ABC 7 about the project's goal. "It's our job to turn their heartbreak and their pain into love and hope and a sense of future," he said.
The village consists of a dozen ready-to-move-in houses. Two of the units are studios designed for young adults aging out of care. Organizers told the outlet that Los Angeles oversees more foster youth than any other county nationwide.
Bale and executive director Tim McCormick launched the nonprofit in 2022. The Austrian American Council West helped raise close to $9 million in donations for the effort. The first residents are scheduled to move in next month.
