Jennifer Lawrence Details 'Unbelievable' Reunion With 'Hunger Games' Cast

Jennifer Lawrence has opened up about her return to Panem, describing the experience of reprising Katniss Everdeen as "unbelievable" and "so beautiful." The actress discussed the reunion on the 'Call Her Daddy' podcast, per Variety.

Lawrence said filming for the upcoming prequel 'The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping' involved much of the original crew. She specifically mentioned reuniting with co-stars Josh Hutcherson and Woody Harrelson, calling the experience emotional. "Josh and I didn’t walk to the bathroom without our arms around each other," she said, according to TheWrap.

The film, set for a November 20 release, is an adaptation of Suzanne Collins' novel. It focuses on a younger version of Haymitch Abernathy, played by Joseph Zada, during the 50th Hunger Games. Variety notes the book ends with an epilogue featuring the older versions of Katniss, Peeta, and Haymitch, which is how the original actors are expected to appear.

Lawrence also confirmed Harrelson's return, joking about his boundary-pushing habits. "Woody, obviously, came through the window of my hotel room uninvited," she quipped. "It wouldn't be the same if he listened to boundaries or used a door."

The actress had previously expressed openness to returning as Katniss, telling Variety in 2023 she was "totally" on board if the right opportunity arose. Reports of her and Hutcherson's involvement first surfaced last December.
